MBTA: NE Patriots Championship Parade Info

Congratulations to the New England Patriots on their 6th Super Bowl Championship! Their championship parade will be Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Boston. The parade starts at 11am from Hynes Convention Center and travels along Boylston and Tremont Streets to City Hall.

The MBTA will be providing rush-hour service all day to accommodate the crowds as well as providing additional cars on some Commuter Rail trains.

Getting to the Parade and Service Changes

Subway

Trains will run every 5-6 minutes between 6am-7pm.

Stops DIRECTLY along the parade route:

  • Hynes Convention Center (Green Line)
  • Copley (Green Line)
  • Arlington (Green Line)
  • Boylston (Green Line)
  • Park Street (Green and Red Lines)
  • Government Center (Green and Blue Lines)
Stops NEAR the parade route: 
  • Back Bay (Orange Line & Commuter Rail)
  • Tufts Medical Center (Orange Line)
  • Chinatown (Orange Line)
  • Downtown Crossing (Orange and Red Lines)
  • State Street (Orange and Blue Lines)
  • Bowdoin (Blue Line) 
    • NOTE: This station will close around 10am and reopen around 2pm

Commuter Rail

The Commuter Rail will run the normal weekday schedule, but extra cars will be added to some trains that are expected to be busier.
NOTE: The underground passageway will be ONE WAY from Commuter Rail to Subway.

From North Station:

  • You can transfer to the Green Line and exit at any stop between Government Center & Hynes Convention Center.
  • Walk to the parade route (approximately 15 minutes).
  • From South Station:

    • Transfer to the Red Line and exit at Park Street.

    From Back Bay:

    • Walk to the parade route (approximately 5 minutes)
    • Transfer to the Orange Line and exit anywhere between Tufts Medical Center and State Street.

    Bus

    • SL5 - Buses will terminate at Chinatown
    • 55 - No service
    • 504 - Buses will terminate at the Back Bay Busway
    • Routes 8, 9, 10, 39, 43, 92, 93, 352, 354 - See Service Alert page for specific changes
    • All other routes will run as scheduled, but may experience delays.

    Fares

    Preloaded CharlieCards with $5 will be available for sale by Transit Ambassadors at the following stations between 6-11am and can be purchased with Debit or Credit cards only. You can still use Fare Vending Machines as normal however, there may be long lines. The MBTA is recommending to add a minimum of $5 early in the day. $5 is sufficient for round trip travel on the subway.

      • Alewife
      • Braintree
      • Quincy Adams
      • North Quincy
    • ORANGE LINE:
      • Oak Grove
    • GREEN LINE:
      • Riverside
    • BLUE LINE:
      • Wonderland
    • COMMUTER RAIL:
      • The MBTA is requesting riders purchase tickets BEFORE boarding either using vending machines or the mTicket app. NOTE, CharlieCards are NOT valid on the Commuter Rail.

    Other Information:

    Parking: Parking rates vary between $2-$15 and you can pay with Cash, Card, or by phone app. 
    Be Courteous: Please be courteous to other riders. The trains and buses are expected to be busier than normal.

    Safety: Additional MBTA Transit Police and staff will be on hand throughout the system all day. If you need assistance, report it directly to a uniformed employee. If you have an emergency, call 911 or the Transit Police at 617-222-1212.
